about

This song combines 70s soft rock with current slowcore/indie production sensibilities. It's a riff on the "if you love someone, set them free/if they come back, it was meant to be" cliche. Trusting that the relationship is strong enough to weather any sort of distance and space needed at the moment.

lyrics

My love for you’s as constant as an evergreen tree
Through the bitter winter, the harshest cold, I’ll still have all my leaves
And even if you go, you know where I’ll stay
My love for you will never fade away

My love for you’s as strong as a sea storm
I’d drop it all if you needed someone to hold
I’d take you in my arms, and you could close your eyes
My love for you will never really die

And I know you need a little space
And I know sometimes I can’t help
holding a little too tight when I see your face
Maybe in the long run, if I let you go
it’ll all work out ok

My love for you’s as patient as the springtime
Waiting under piles of soiled snow
Even though today it may be hard, I hope I’m being clear
My love for you could hibernate for years
